CHIS '27 should be
accessible to every delegate.
OPEN Interactive's commitments for chis2027.com and the on-site experience at the American University in Antigua — including how to request accommodations and how to report a barrier.
Last updated · June 4, 2026
1. Our commitment
OPEN Interactive is committed to making CHIS '27 — both this site and the on-site summit experience — accessible to as many people as possible, including delegates with disabilities. Our working target for chis2027.com is conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA.
Accessibility is part of how we deliver a sovereign-grade convening. If any element of the site or the summit creates a barrier to your full participation, we want to know.
2. Measures we take on the web
Semantic HTML structure with clear landmarks (header, navigation, main, footer) so assistive technology can move through the page predictably.
Logical heading order on every page, with a single primary heading per route.
Color and contrast designed against the WCAG AA threshold, including text, interactive states, and focus indicators.
Keyboard navigability for all interactive elements, including the navigation, registration and inquiry forms, accordions, and dialogs.
Visible focus states on links, buttons, and form fields.
Descriptive alternative text for content images and decorative-image markup for ornamental graphics.
Form fields with associated labels, required-field indicators, and inline error messaging.
Reduced-motion handling that respects the operating-system "reduce motion" preference.
Responsive layouts that scale to mobile, tablet, and desktop viewports, with tap targets sized for touch.
3. Accessibility at the venue
CHIS '27 is held at the American University of Antigua (AUA) Conference Center in St. John's, Antigua & Barbuda. The venue provides step-free access to its main conference spaces, accessible restrooms, and parking. Reserved seating, runner support, and quiet-room space can be arranged in advance.
If you require specific accessibility accommodations — including but not limited to mobility, hearing, visual, dietary, sensory, or medical accommodations — please indicate this during registration or write to info@chis2027.com as early as possible so we can confirm the arrangement with the venue and on-site team.
4. Known limitations
Some embedded third-party content (for example, partner media, social embeds, or external registration providers) may not fully meet our accessibility target. Where we identify a barrier in an embedded element, we work with the provider to improve it or offer an accessible alternative on request.
Live captioning and translation availability is confirmed session-by-session; please contact us in advance if you require either so we can confirm what is available for the sessions you plan to attend.
5. Ongoing work
We treat accessibility as an active discipline, not a one-time audit. The site and the on-site experience are reviewed in the lead-up to CHIS '27 and refined based on delegate feedback after each edition of our summit franchise.
6. Reporting a barrier or requesting help
If you encounter an accessibility barrier on chis2027.com, in our communications, or on-site at CHIS '27 — or if you need information in an alternative format — please email info@chis2027.com. Include the page, screen, or session you were trying to use; what happened; and the assistive technology or device you were using if relevant.
We aim to acknowledge accessibility requests within two business days and to provide a meaningful response or accommodation as quickly as the request allows.
7. Feedback
Feedback from delegates is the most useful signal we receive. If you have suggestions for improving accessibility — including ideas we have not yet considered — we welcome them at info@chis2027.com.
This statement reflects our current accessibility posture and will be updated as the site and the summit program evolve.
